GALE AND TOM TANGER SCHOLARSHIP
The Wisconsin Figure Skating Club (WFSC) Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2019 Gale and Tom Tanger Scholarship.
The Tanger Scholarship Fund was created to provide financial aid to a Scholar-Athlete from the Wisconsin Figure Skating Club. The scholar-athlete must be a graduating high school senior student. The funds are generated from the profits of the annual Skate Milwaukee Competition. In 2009 the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Figure Skating Club (WFSC) voted to establish this fund in the name of Gale and Tom Tanger, founders of the Skate Milwaukee competition. The award of the scholarship will be determined by a three to five-member review committee.
The Gale and Tom Tanger Scholarship is a merit based scholarship. This scholarship is not based on need. It is created as a cash award/recognition to a selected recipient(s). Candidates may apply through an online application form found on the WFSC web-site. This scholarship is open to home club members of the Wisconsin Figure Skating Club who have met all the selection criteria.
Criteria to be met by the applicant will include, but not limited to, the following:
The award will be announced by April 16 and will be presented at the annual WFSC Banquet. The committee will make every attempt to acknowledge each recipient in person at the Scholarship Recognition Assembly or Program at the recipient’s school.
The application and all supporting materials must be fully completed and postmarked by March 31, 2019, or the applicant will not be considered. All materials must be sent to: Thomas Tanger, Scholarship Chair. Any questions regarding the application may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your interest in the WFSC Academic Athlete Scholarship. The committee looks forward to receiving your application.
Skaters and parents participate at the kick-off event for the WFSC 2019 philanthropic fundraiser to support Make A Wish foundation and WFSC’s Red White and Blades. The event culminated in the surprise reveal that Olympic Skater Jason Brown will come to Milwaukee on March 31st! Incentives to various fundraising levels through the duration of the event, and Jason will hold clinics, skate with skaters, and do a photo Q&A. Skaters can be registered for the event at: https://wisconsinfscwithjason.org/
